Better late than never: ArmA Gold

I finally got a cheap copy of Armed Assault Gold, which includes the 1.08 patch and the addon. Usually the price for a new copy is 20 euros (fair for what you get, more than fair), but I got it even for the half. It installs all in just one rush, from one DVD. No patching, no separate addon-installation.

The later patches 1.14 are said in the forums to be adding new problems, and not being really convincing. Any pro or con for using 1.14? I currently stay with 1.08.

I use a sound mod named BPA 1.4. Are there any better, more recommendable? I saw the video by Chammy, which looks nice, and also sounds nice. I tried the Hifi FX mod, but the download seems to be corrupted every time.

Any other must-have mods? I mean really basic stuff one would hate to miss, which really makes a difference for the better, not some minor things that are interesting only for people who love just that little tiny detail.

Does anyone know status of the extensive Bundeswehr-mod?

Played Flashpoint a lot, love ArmA already, now that the starting problems reported two years back are gone and performance is fine. Being able to use TrackIR really makes a difference. Just that contrast of bright and black, when you are supposed to be blinded by the sun, is a little too hefty, for my taste, even the NVG suffer from this occasionally. However, a great package for low money - smile-grin-laughter! just the behavior of tanks again sends tears of laughter into my eyes. After all ArmA still is an infantry simulator, the way armoured vehicle behave, is a joke. If I want some tanking, I choose you know what.
