Actually I worked for longer in DC, often for Republicans, then I have in Westminster. So I suspect I know as much about the neuonces of the US system as most on this forum.

My first post was purely an example of hummour and political ribbing, but anyway, back on topic...

...why can't this thread turn into a debate on the electoral collage. I find it facinating that a country which prides itself on being world leaders in political freedom, theory and practice should continue to rely on an electoral system that presumes the country is still in the 18th century.

And I know the "its because its the states" argument and such. But honestly, is there a democratic justification in 2008?
