The standard probably is exactly the other way around: young kids confronting their parents with wanting to have this kind of surgery, because they see their idols on TV, and in youth magazines get it hammered into their heads that they need to be beautiful, perfect, forever young. Some parents react helpless at first, and show resignation later, others maybe even do not care and choose the easy path of not fighting with their kids and so giving them what they want, which probably is the worst scenario possible in this context. Of course, there are also those bitches of a mother who take their 5 year oold with them into beauty cloinics and let them have the same package they give to themselves, and by that teach them in even younger ages to behave like arrogant, high-nosed primadonnas - and staff being payed for being obedient and treat them like royal ladies. Such mothers should be tried to spank some reason into their stupid empty heads.

Also, the general body cult and it's tons and tons of ever new fitness trends and perfect diets and perfet body-indices and perfect fitness parameters plays a role. It is lifestyle, and a mind not having learned by according examples that it is a poisenous lifestyle - necessarily canot know it any better, and thus wants to be part of it, not to be rejected by the others.

So, it would not be without a point to say that all society and the cultural degeneration of social standards in general are what is causing symptoms like such degenerated ideas about what a surgeon should be allowed to do - and what better not. Add to this an idea of that there shall be no limit to business and every idea, no matter how selfish, and behaving like this is acceptable if only one can make money with it - and you are where we are.
