Apologies if this has been discussed before - did a search and couldn't find anything. Anyways...
Made it to 1945 - Asiatic Squadron. I'm back at Freemantle, notcied a new torpedo load-out - Mark 16 Hydrogeon peroxide torp. The specs look good - but i'm kinda dubious about the accuracy. In Clay Blair's "Silent Victory" he gives a brief blurb that they did have about 50 of these manufactured before the Pearl Harbour attack . However, it looks like it was shelved in favour of more mainstream (and less dangerous to transport) models. But now in '45 they show up? I grabbed a bunch to test them out on my next mission - anybody have any thoughts on their utility? Anyways, wish me luck - next objective is to recon Singapore!! |
