Default Results from Operation Juno

I'm moved into the new place and I just got internet today, so the 2 week ordeal of being unconnected is over. In between, I managed to wrap up my patrol in Northern Norway where I threw a wrench into the British evacuation of the place.

Long story short I tracked the convoy, and sniped at the convoy.

Eventaully had to let the convoy leave on account of a Swordfish torpedo plane. He forced me to crash dive 2 or 3 times, at one point putting my repair guy to work. Nothing permanently damaged though. So I have an idea. I put my submarine along the bearing the plane came from. 5 hours later I hear a warship contact from the hydrophone operator. The observation scope shows an Illustrious class carrier. From history, there were two carriers that sortied: Ark Royal and Glorious came later. It is June 8, so I think it to be the Ark Royal. I set myself up to track ahead of him. If I crank it to all ahead flank I can do an intercept. At times I see his bearing is 75 to stb. I think, 'oh well, he changed course, better luck next time.' so i go to periscope depth .15 minutes later I hear warship contact. the observation scope shows a Southampton class cruiser. Great, 10,000 tons isn't bad, let's do it. So I set up the intercept to be a little further north, by say 1000 meters for the cruiser than I would have for the carrier. So I chug along at flank for 3 kms, and I go to periscope, all stop and park it at silent running. I see the bearing of the contact go to 45 degrees off the portside, approaching zero. I raise the scope and what do I see!...the Illustrious class at 30 degrees port, 18 knots! I hurriedly change my torpedo depth settings, I only have 2 left in forward tubes. It's a remote chance I take it with 2 but I'm going to try. I loose one fish to hit in fuel room just forward the control tower. The other, goes to the ammo dump under the planes. I get 1st contact on the fuel bunker, no secondaries. Next one hits right in the ammo dump, and a string of secondaries send it up in flames.

Eventually, I eluded the weak ASW and cruised around the northern coast of Britain, sank a few more and went home to frauleins, good booze and sausage.
