I have tracked a convoy for 180km via sonar, but the winds have been running at 14-15m/sec with very rough seas; no rain. I was happy for somewhat better conditions for my attack.
Now, I might try attacking on the surface at night, but visibility isn't too bad. I am worried about being spotted by escorts. Another possibility is a daytime submerged attack, but I am concerned about torpedoes in such heavy seas (early 1941) or possibly broaching while I set up a PD. Will broaching the sail be spotted by escorts? Recommendations? Thanks.
