Quick Guide to Cloning and Editing DW Objects
Quick Guide to Cloning and Editing DW Objects
This is a short, simple guide to cloning and editing DW objects using DW Edit utility. I am no expert using DW Edit, but I wanted share with everyone what I have already learned. If anyone else has anything else to add, please do. 1. Open the 3dobject.e3d located in the Database folder using the DW Edit utility. 2. Click on the 'Object Dialog' button. 3. Find the object you are trying to clone in the left hand column and double click it. 4. Click 'Link to 3Dobject' arrow button on top right. 5. In the Object Dialog screen, click 'New Object' button. Name the new 3D object what you want the new object to be called. Must be the EXACT same name. 6. Now go back to the 'Object Dialog' screen. Click the 'New Object' button to create a new cloned object. The name must be the EXACT same name as the new 3D object you already cloned. 7. Double click the white 'New Entity' box located on the 'Object Dialog' screen. When the box pops up, add a new name for each unit that will be available in the in-game DW mission editor. Then make a number for each one in the 'Ship Number' slot. Then in the 'Link to Ship Class' drop down menu, find the correct object class. After finishing, click ok to create each new entity. The cloned object is now finished. You can now add or change anything you want to the new cloned object. Sensors, propulsion, etc. More to come... Hmmm. I didn't realize I posted this in the main DW forum. Maybe one of the moderators could move this thread into the DW modding forum. Last edited by Sakura551; 01-04-08 at 08:21 AM. |
