manual tdc solution check

My manual TDC solutions have not been very sucessful lately, torpedoes are often passing behind the target, which I assume means the speed estimate is too low. I found it easier to check the solution accuracy in SHI than in SHIV for some reason. What is the preferred method of checking the accuracy of the solution? I am manually calculating speed by computing the distance travelled in a period of timie. I assume the white X on the attack map represents where the computer thinks the center of the target is, am I correct?Thanks! Joe S
