When I downloaded the ROW soundpack, I did notice the sh.sdl file in the package and realized that the presence or absence of it could be an issue, so when I install the ROW sounds I will install the whole package and see how it works. You don't need the sh.sdl file for the sound mods to work, so your crashes prior to v1.4 have nothing to do with that. What I suspect is, with the advent of v1.4 and the new (crew) sounds it adds, using a version of the sh.sdl for 1.3 might lead to crashes. I don't know if it also controls crew sounds though, and I haven't installed 1.4 yet, so I'm only making wild assumptions here.

ETA: Hm...I just remembered that when I was looking through the lists of files altered by v1.4, I didn't spot sh.sdl in there. Which probably means I'm wrong.
