Default what PC System would compare?

the tech threads we had brought me to this. I do not plan to buy a new system right now, but if my current one brakes down, then it is another thing. So: let's prepare.

Consider this: my system brakes down, and I want to replace it. I do not buy new games anymore, Crysis & Co does not interest me, I mostly play my old stuff only, new releases do not really interest me at all:

Add Falcon 4 and Flashpoint. Chess anyway.

These things I want to run smoothly, plus having more frames in Flight Simulator 9 (which with the many addons I use sometimes is a bit stuttery). All other stuff I have already runs smooth and fluid.

More reserves I take for free, okay, but I do not really need them, and thus must not pay for them.

Question: what system would compare to the status and performance potential of my current one at the date I initially bought it - that was Spring 2005? So, what system compares, if you clean the time factor out of the calculation?

P4-3.0;
Asus P4P800SE (Chipset I865PE)
2x 512MB DDR PC400 (Infineon);
Samsung SP2514N 250GB (7200/8MB);
AOpen CD-RW 52x-32x-52x Chameleon;
Samsung DVD-R 16x-48x;
Gainward 7800 GS AGP (256 MB, 93.71);
Creative Audigy 2 6.1 (5.12.2.444);

various coolers, external HD for image backup.

Replace the components at will with contemporary ones. Preference is on

- slight/moderate increase of frames in FS9,
- proven stability
- and reliable, proven components of good reputation.

I would not need the latest, the newest, the fastest, the most expensive. Preference also is with

- low heat production,
- low power consummation,
- low noise.

With what new components would you replace the system above to make the new one comparable to the old in early 2005?

Price limit 1000 Euros, only for very good reasons more than that. I have no problem to take over my old audigy, if it keeps on running. surround sound is no need for me (using headphones anyway)

I would like to keep CD and DVD two separate, and replace the DVD reader with a burner. If money allows and graphics potential do not suffer, connectors allowing to connect video recorder would optionally be appreciated.

Windows XP, of course. DirX10 not a must. Not at all!
