Open the .mis file with notepad or something.

You'll see your sub in there someplace:

[Unit 1]
Name=USS Sandlance
Class=SSGato

Origin=American
Side=1

DeleteOnLastWaypoint=false

Name= put the name you want there, if that line is missing, add it.

Note: if you want the sub to not be early war, make sure you set the cfg date!
