Serious problem

Just did a fresh install of SH3 - completely fresh. All SH3 and SH4 related files have been long since removed. even searching for the words "Silent" or "hunter" or Silent Hunter" or "SH3" produces no results on my C:

now that im trying to install patch 1.4b it says it cant install 1.4b because of one of my interior files NSS_TypeVIIC or something like that.

im open to any suggestions at this point in time. need the help in a major way and fast

i have even attempted to download and install all of the other patches from Ubi (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4b) i am using the file that corresponds to the US DVD version of the game.... even tried the EMEA patch out of being desperate but it said the same thing.

thanks for any offerings of advice!
