Default Rainbow 6 III Raven Shield.

Hi,

This is another one of my currents...

The neu planning interface takes a bit of getting used to - but there are good improvements.
I never warmed to Ghost recon - so I was glad when I got this - having played Rogue Spear umpteen times - the addiction being the Perfect Plan - where you could hit the observe key and watch the mission thru - except on those really fiddly bits like the back steps in the Kosovo mission and the sniper on the ledge before.

My criticizims are the inibility to switch to Observe mode in-game and a Planning Stage issue or two.

1. Why couldn't they let you use the mouse wheel in the planning stage for zooming in and out.

2.I wish there were a series of buttons for vetting Go-Codes.
Like 3 buttons - Alpha - Bravo - Charlie - and a forth to play/jump thru Go-Codes only.
Something to help you quickly keep track of the assignment of Go-Codes thru the planning stage - where you could look at a list on the side and see that:

Red team -----is running GCB 3 - -----approaching GCA 4....
Green team --is running GCB 3II ---- approaching GCA 4.....
Gold team ----is-----@---- GCA 4 ------ Next GC = ------GCB 4.....

etc.

I would have thought they would have done something about this - at this stage.
It looks complicated the way I've laid it out - but I'm sure some type of function would help speed up the planning process.

3. The dropping of Blue team....hmmmmm.....

3. The dropping of kit assignments in SP was not good IMO.

All that said - it Rocks!
Especially the quick in-game interface for Zulu codes - though SWAT4 is still the King in that Dept. IMO.

It would have been good if they'd included the (Assault/Infiltrate/Recon) And (Team Member Selection) ala the Zulu Go-Code interface.
I hate reaching across from my < > ? SHIFT CTRL movement keys.

Being able to double assign keys via a mouse click is a good idea for combat sims IMO.
Eg. I could keep my < > ? SHIFT CTRL movement keys current - and then with say a RMB click bring up the Team select screen where I could change also sniper state, ROA state and I could have - if I wanted -
my < > ? SHIFT CTRL movement keys to select different things on it.
That way if trouble appears - by simply letting go of the RMB, I jump back to
my initial < > ? SHIFT CTRL movement keys.

SWAT4 had this down very well - but there is room for improvement.
OFP was a nightmare in this regard and if ArmA isn't improved in this issue it will put me off.

Also, in R63 there seems to be no HUD indication for Single Team Hold.
Something is a bit confused there.

But a great game nonetheless.

Ausraider.

PS!

I cannot warm to the new faces on Chavez - Santiago - Narino or any of them infact.

Glanos' new hairstyle is appalling, Eddie Price looks rediculously 20 Years younger,
Andrew Burke looks like he's been dragged through a hedge backwards and
Kazi's 20 year marrige to a Polish politician look like she's showing signs of strain.

About the only one who has retained any sense of dignity during this Liberty Face-Lift Fiasco
is Homer Johnston - although gone indeed is the charming grin - and he looks like he's been 'on the beer' for about 20 years.

PPS:

"Renee darling...thats a terrible photograph".
