She was at the very least severely incapacitated as a result of a naval engagement

IMO, the "GRAF SPEE" was scuttled, since its sinking was a direct result of her own crew's intervention. The "Bismarck", if scuttled, was heavily damaged prior to sinking, and the damage had to be taken into consideration.. My opinion: I will agree with Jim's theory on this..
