Default Periscope, Graphics, Differences, DEV Team Familiarity with SH3

First off, I can see a flood of feedback coming from everyone. I hope all this is being monitored and organized for the DEV Team somehow.

Is there any way to raise or lower the periscope in small amounts instead of full up/full down with either the keyboard or command buttons? How about the gauge that lets you know how high the scope is out of the water? That seemed to matter in SH3.

Changing graphics settings in the Options menu doesn't appear to be recorded in the Main.cfg file and yet the settings do appear to be taking effect. Is it possible this data is being saved someplace else as well?

It seems the developers tried to make most of the commands available through mouse clicks on hidden/slideout panels. The periscope view is a good example. I think the raise/lower scope (incrementally like SH3), how high the scope is out of the water, and ID manual should always be visible.

From what I'm seeing, it appears the bulk of the DEV team did not work on SH3. Someone really dropped the ball on considering SH3 users transitioning to SH4. The command layout in terms of the keyboard is only one example of this. Did they make things different just to be different?
