Default Details on new upcoming version of Ship Simulator (2007)

Just received this e-mail detailing the forthcoming features of the new Ship Simulator 2007, the devs seem to have addressed all of the main issues with the 2006 version and are adding a ton of new features...

Things are going very well here at the Ship Simulator development team. The game has been sold well over 100,000 times in less than one year after the initial launch, not bad for a first release of a new title!
Add-on Pack with six new ships

The add-on pack with 6 new ships is selling really well through our on-line Webshop. Our publishers are bringing out the add-on pack in the same retail stores as the game itself. They should arrive there any time soon. Reactions from early buyers are very positive, see the shipsim.com forum.
Ship Simulator Professional into production

In the last newsletter we announced a new product, at the time called Ship Simulator NMEA Chart Interface. It made it possible to connect professional navigation charting software and equipment to the game. So you could follow your player ship on the electronic navigation chart.
After we received some very positive feedback, we developed support for AIS (Automatic Identification System, a system used by ships and vessel traffic systems principally for identification of vessels at sea) into the program. So you can now also follow the position and direction of autonomous ships in the game as AIS icons on the chart.
We also worked with some navigation software providers to get free trial versions of their program included on our CD. If you connect two monitors to your PC, you can run a Ship Simulator mission on one monitor, and the navigation software on the other.
We also decided to include the original game and the add-on pack, and renamed the product to Ship Simulator Professional. So it no longer is an add-on product, but a product that can be usedIt went into production today. You can order it through our site. We are setting up a Global distribution network right now.
Ship Simulator 2007 feature list

We are working hard now on the new version of the game, Ship Simulator 2007. It will come out in June in many European countries, initially in 4 languages, with more to follow. The main features:
  • Ocean waves, with realistic ship motions
  • Advanced day/night/weather system
  • Large-distances trips between harbours (open sea missions)
  • Multiplayer
  • Walkthrough options on all new ships
  • Mid-mission save function
  • Visible damage on ships after a collision
  • New navigation instruments, like a depth meter
  • Advanced towing and mooring rope operations
  • Complex and challenging missions, like chasing other ships, container loading, fire-fighting, rescue operations
  • Three brand new exciting sailing areas: San Francisco, Southampton/Solent incl. Cowes, and Marseille
  • At least nine new vessels, under which several ferries, a hovercraft, a massive container ship, an offshore drilling rig, an oil tanker, a rescue boat and a jet-ski
  • Two cranes for container loading and unloading, which can be controlled by the player

Meet us at the HISWA

Ship Simulator Professional will be demonstrated at the Dutch yacht exhibition HISWA in Amsterdam this week, at the “Kennisplein”, close to the main entrance to the right (hall 1, stand 01.200). If you live in or close to The Netherlands, we hope we can meet you there!
Happy sailing!
