S-class in convoy

Hey

Yesterday I attacked a convoy a long way west of spain heading north. I was awaiting the convoy when suddenly I detected a sub-like sound on the sonar...I had sent a contact report earlier and I though it might be another kraut sub

Then I allocated an S-class going submerged after a Large merchant (which blew up by 1 torp btw

) with its periscope up. He was going behind the large merchant just as if he was a freighter. Anyone seen this before?

I didn't even think AI subs were actually able to submerge
