kiel canal autopilot and waypoints plot across land

Hello can anyone tell me please i have sat in port and wanted to navigate the keil canal i press the navigators button to plot the course outbound and the waypoints shoot off to the east into land?? can any one help please. Is it the case that i have to sit facing the canal in the middle?

2.
if i make a mistake in the plot how do i delete all the flag waypoints all in one simple click of a button? instead of each individually as the rubber to remove all marks does not do this??? i have to delet each one individually.
