GW related CTD

Well, after installing GW (v1.1) i can get the game all the way up to the screen where it says " not so long ago" and then DDhelp will have a illegal operation (DDhelp is a win98 thing) microsoft says that its graphics related, and to fix it you need to reduce hardware acceleration, ok i did that, now sh3's 3d engine wont load, so i'm stuck here with no sh3, and nothings working to fix it............anyone have any ideas?

(im beginning to hate win 98

specs are: (very crappy) Intel Celeron D 2.93ghtz
Geforce 5200 FX
512mb RAM
win98 SE
