U-527, IXC/40 lasted less than a year. Commissioned Sep. 2, 1942, and sunk by depth charges dropped by Avengers from the USS Bogue on Jul. 23, 1943 south of the Azores while supporting the U-648. 40 dead, 13 survivors. Only went on 2 patrols.
