definitely the original series has the edge every time...
if anything the newer series and spin offs are just too stright laced and "cool"... they have the occasional moment of stress or humour but apart from that the characters are all more like data than data is... good old Shatner....collapsing on his knees in despair shouting "SPOCK!!!...SPOCK!!!" or rolling his eyes with sweat pouring from his forehead....slamming his desk with his fists and screaming at people...close ups of the characters faces showing extreme emotion or distress brings the whole thing to life and makes more relevant to-day than it ever was... emotion in modern media is so stage managed that it has become actually a bit creepy....certainly completely artificail..give me scotty chasing kirk down a hall way shouting "I canny change the laws of physics captain" and kirk falling on his knees screaming to the heavens " NO!!!!!!!!" everytime....the rocks on every planet are all made of polysterene..but the characters are full blown Shakespearean human beings.. another reason for like-ing the Revenge of Khan movie..the language...(as mentioned!!) is stunning...such pleasure in the simple exercise of the human tongue can't beat it!! as August showed!!
