Very similar boats are seen on the Erie Canal and its tributaries. Considering it’s in ‘New’ York I imagine a lot of the design ideas are of Brit origin. I transited the canal 15 years ago, ashamed it’s degraded to a shallow ditch with pallets in that time. Used to be quite picturesque in places.
