As an experiment, I took only the hydrophone and sonar settings from NYGM's sim.cfg file and pasted them into the stock sim.cfg file with a stock install.
In such case, the escorts ping away with their asdic upon contact (yes, finally !), yet in NYGM, not so. Very fun; I like the asdic noise being present as was the case historically and I like the stock depth charges strength "problem" and "pinpoint dropping" "problem". Helps make the escort ai more of a threat than otherwise. Must be the different settings in the ai_sensors.dat file between the two that makes the difference. I also don't get the red bearing lines (yes, again !) with a rwr in the stock install vs. NYGM, etc. so something must have been changed there too. Perhaps the same file is also the cause. Anyway, fwiw.
