Steam no Steam

Hey All, New to Subsim but not to SH3. Played 3 and 4 many years ago when they 1st came out. I think I'm gonna like it here.

Anyways I am looking to start modding my game. I thought I read somewhere that if using Steam version should load game into it's own folder and not into Steam library. Is this true? I was just going to start my mods with the GWX mod and then slowly add to that. Thanks in advance for the help.....
