wolf_howl15 Silent Hunter III player here

Hi,

My grandfather retired as a Commander in the US Navy, he fought in War World II. He was an electrical engineer and flew seaplanes which landed in the water, in the Gulf of Mexico.

Normally he flew co-pilot, but his friend the pilot wasn't feeling well one day, so they switched places. Later during their patrol, they encountered a surfaced German submarine which was recharging its batteries. They dropped a bomb in the water, missed the sub, but the sub's AA gunner damaged the plane, killed the pilot in the co-pilot's seat, and nicked my grandfather's arm. He got a purple heart, but wasn't too happy about it. Years later after the war, he met the captain of the U-boat at a party.

I'm not a military man myself, but I enjoy the hunt in submarine sims. Silent Hunter III is the only one I've tried recently, the reviews for SH IV and SH V are so bad (but perhaps SH's glitches and AI could be fixed with mods?)

I run Windows 10 and I find SH3 runs better in windowed mode, however it still sometimes crashes randomly, so it's been discouraging to use.

Mods I have:
GWX 3.0
GWX late snorkel antennas
GWX integrated orders
Manos environ 6
Rubini underwater plankton
GWX English nav map and grid refs
GWX merged campaign
MEP v6
MEP v6 visual sensors for GWX with Anvart's FUMO mod
SteelViking interior
rbs1 sh4 effects GWX
SH5
