Problems with all mods!!??

Hi all. Ive been having serious problems getting mods to work with sh3. Ive been using the JSGME mod installer as well as normal means but havnt been having any luck. any mod from real uboat mod to SH3 world has either crashed on me or stopped responding when i load up. my games up to date at v1.4 which all these mods recommend. Ive reinstalled my game 3 times and patched it up to install the mods clean but that still doesnt work. any ideas??
