This might be known to a lot of the SH5 gamers and sim pilots but might not be known to some newer players hence this post.

About using your Flak guns to attack planes.

Always use Lead angle when firing at planes !!!

That means, aim in front of the plane, never directly at the plane. The trick is to put the bullets/shells in the path of the plane. When you aim at the plane itself you will invariably miss bigtime because the shells will arrive where the plane just was, not where it will be.

These might assist you in becoming a more proficient FLAK gunner.
Which does not mean you will not die or that your boat will never go down.

During WWII many U boat designers had no clue that their boats were sitting ducks and had not nearly enough ack ack of the right caliber and rate of fire to really fend off aerial attacks. The VII C-41 Atlantic came a bit closer but was also underpowered not to mention that the constant contact with salt water and air on the surface and salt water submerged was detrimental to the Anti Aircraft weaponry as well as the deck gun.
