Help with targeting and OM7

Hello everyone, I am hoping to get some insight into how targeting works with OM 7. I do not wish to do any math in this game and I am attempting to use the fully auto targeting system(manual targeting unchecked in gameplay options) but it seems every time I load the sim the manual targeting comes back. Is it impossible to use auto targeting with OM 7 or am I missing something here? Difficulty is on hard. Thanks for any and all help!

Every time I set the gameplay options they are changed whenever I start a campaign and its really pissing me off. I tell the game how I want to play, not the other way around... Is there a way to make the options stick or should I just uninstall and play something else?
