You know, all those years ago when Jane's 688(I), Sub Command, and DW were new, there was a lot of discussion about torpedo tactics, such as swim-out modes and using passive until a certain range. Us civilians only know what Popular Mechanics tells us, but we guessed there must be newer and better capabilities than the games were presenting. For example, in multiplayer games, I got a good sense that if I classified an enemy sub, he probably had me detected and classified also. It came down to who got the first shot off, cause the next step was to turn tail and run. In those games, the torpedoes simply launched, with nothing to keep the opposing player from detecting the launch and bearing, which lead back to me.
Well, apparently the weapons and tactics engineers in real life have been busy.

I would really enjoy an updated nuke subsim like Sub Command if it encompassed all the new tech, such as stealth torpedoes, drones, and the new Virginia and Borei-class subs.
