I wasn't talking about the films that you have linked, I appologise for any confusion my unclear statement lead to.

My point was (and is) that most sci fi series with star ship combat, essentially use WW2 like naval combat practices/combat style. This is especially true for the Star Wars series for example.

In the original OP video this is represented by the (for the example):
- propeller driven bomber.
- use of short ranged cannon based weapons.
