Update to SH 5 1.2 Running W 8.1

Had to reinstall SH 5 and am using win 8.1. I very rarely use the W-8 start screen ( Apps screen) and boot directly into desktop mode. Normally when you start the game the first time, ubi checks the version and updates to 1.2. I could not make it happen.
I tried switching over to the apps screen and started the game from there and the game updated to v 1.2. Make sure you have not placed a check mark in the UBI launcher settings tab " always start uplay offline" until the sim has updated. Might save someone some frustration.
