GWX install problems

I have tried to uninstall SH3 for a clean install and have down loaded the 1.4 update, but when i go to reinstall I am not asked for my disk security code(why) I made a separate folder for the install, I get to the install page,and get this message
Set up identified the following problem(s) with the selected folder
Modded files were found. (did I miss something on the install??) This Expansion must be installed over a clean copy (I have the disk) I reinstall (without having to type in the security code) and then download the patch, 1.4 which does install, but every time I get this same message can anyone help me thanks in advance,
