Default Some Advice/Ideas

I'm about to upgrade my hardrive for one with more capacity. I currently have a Kingston 120gb ssd which is almost filled to capacity. My new one is the Samsung 840 EVO ssd at 500gb. A buddy of mine at work installs and updates the computers. He recently purchased a machine to clone hardrives. My plan is to have my current HD cloned onto the new one. He said it's an easy process, and should be as simple as just hooking up the new HD and business as usual. It sounds pretty straight forward, but I was wondering if any of you guys have any experience doing this. Is it as easy as it sounds? Any tips/suggestions welcome! Thanks
