Yesterday I read a topic called "Manual ploting and run-around ilustrated" and it catched my interest since I have been playing now for a while on 88% (only map updates and external view unchecked) and I wanted to take it to the next level so last night I printed out the instructions of that topic and of I went in my IIA sub.
I decided to do a practise run on the first enemy ship I encountered. So I was passing Sweden and Norway and I got the warning that we had a contact!!!! And so the excersise began..Me ofcourse being in good faith that I could get it right.. ![]() I went to the periscope room and pressed the stopwatch button while after that I went back to the map and put a mark just behind my sub and then asked for a bearing and distance so that I could plot the lines to the target to get a fix on its position. Well after that I waited 3.15 minutes then did it 3 more times which gave me a somewhat rough Idea what the targets course was. (Wasn't accurate yet because I had no routine yet with this procedure.. ![]() ![]() ![]() As I mentioned my plot wasn't really accurate so I decided to try again, and did again another 3.15/6.30/9.45 (just three was enough for me). And This time it gave me a good speed between point 1 and 2 and point 2 and 3 which was 1 knot more then before...So there I was waiting again in a 90 degrees angle.. ![]() ![]() ![]() So set it up one more time just taking to plots 3.15/6.30 and finaly I was able to put a torp underneath its keel... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now I just have to try to get a target range and speed while being submerged....but I still have the happy years in front of me so I have time to practise.. ![]() Happy hunting!!! |
