More convoys in NYGM?

I've started a campaign playing NYGM and it seems I get convoy reports all the time, I've had several experiences of two or three different convoys reported in a time space of one - two days. It's only my fourth NYGM patrol, though and the grids have been in busy areas like BE grids. (I also thought that NYGM would have less single ships, but I have bumped into several although I have been doing only one hydrophone sweep per day.) Is this only a co-incidence or are there more convoys in NYGM
