This is AAR of Russian Trawler mission. I'm working on the campaign
Korean Crisis, this will be a second mission. In all campaign I want to make a nasty surprises... AAR: Captain's log: Orion reported alone unmovable trawler around 130 miles south of the Pearl Harbour. Our orders was identify and take photos of this trawler. Conn, Sonar - New contact, bearing 330, probably our trawler Helm - Set course to 330, speed 7 knots, go to PD After 20 minutes distance was 6000 yards, I raised periscope, take photos and send it to HQ. 3 minutes later by radio we received message from HQ about the trawler. It is a Russian spy ship and probably waiting for refuel and ressuply by submarine. And it is our new order - take photo of the ressuply operation. We are circling near ship at 2 knots with streamed TA 10 minutes. Conn, sonar - New contact, bearing 270, very loudy, rapidly rising from under layer deep. (strong layer at -600). Helm - set course to 270, torpedo room, flood the tubes 1 and 2 ! Conn, sonar - contact is Typhoon, at high speed, heading direct to us ! 3 minutes later : Conn, Sonar - Typhoon at 5000 yards, accelerating to 25 knots, cavitating and changing course pernamently direct to us 1 Helm : Hard left to 180, engines full ahead, dive to 600 feets After we pass 17 knots, engineer reported broken shaft's bearing and speed droped to 11 knots. Conn, sonar - Typhoon at 1000 yards and quickly closing ! Bearing 300 ! Conn, sonar - loud explosion from the trawler's bearing, new contac,t looks like Akula at surface ! Conn, Sonar - Typhoon at 500 and closing ! Russian CO must by crazy ! We was at 1000 feets, I ordered emergency blow : XO - Collision Alarm, prepare to the blast ! Helm, Emergency surface the ship, all flank ahead ! After 10 seconds Typhoon hard hit our LA near the bottom of the engine room : Conn, Damage report - TA out, hull sonar out, propulsion out, heavy flooding in the engine room, rudder and stern planes damaged. After some seconds we surfaced, heavy damaged, but alive. On the bow sonar we observed Typhoon. This gigantic beast was probably satisfied, she slow down to 10 knots, changed course to 90 and dissapeared in blue distance. Only one sign after the trawler left on the surface - some debris and oil. Akula was too quiet for our sphere, we don't hear her. |
