Hopefully the football authorities will dish out a substantial punishment to the fans (not only the assailant but also those who were chanting obscenities) and club concerned and in so doing send a clear message that this type of behaviour is unnacceptable these days.
Tomorrow sees the Wear/Tyne derby and the same goes for them should either side act in a similar disgraceful manner
