Speed Control

Does anyone else have a problem getting the Advanced speed control to actually change speeds incrementally??
I can change speeds from all slow to 1/3rd to standard with no problem. When I go to the advanced speed gauge to change from 17 knots to 13,...nuthin.
I can hit that gauge all I want to but I get no response. Until I go to the next speed down. So if I hit 12 knots it just changes from standard to 1/3rd.
In other words, I can not get in between speeds from the advanced speed Gauge.
This is a problem. Especially if I'm maneuvering for an attack.
Anyone?
