Hi,
I'm new to the forum so I thought I would say hi. I've been into submarine games for some time. The first one I played was Sid Meier's Silent Service. I believe it was a MicroProse game. It was a lot of fun and hooked me on sub games. I have also played the following sub games that I can remember anyway: Silent Service I, II Silent Hunter I, III, V (just got it) Wolf Pack Ace's of the Deep Jane's 688(I) I had a lot of fun with 688(I). I was in a online group called Submariners. There was quite a few people in the group. We had different SUBRONS and I was a part of the team that made the custom maps that others would use for the missions. The person that ran the section of map makers was a real officer off of the Nautilus. I still have a hard copy of Silent Hunter III but can not start the game up as I am running windows 7. I at first bought the steam version of Silent Hunter V. I only found out you could mod it while looking for a way to fix the steam version and came across your website. I have now picked up a DVD copy of the game and hope to be able to mod it to where the game it worth playing. On a personal note. I worked on a Sub Base for 15 years. I've worked on diesel boats, 688, 701 class and a couple of Boomers. I also worked on 555, NR1 and the Nautilus. I was at the decommissioning ceremony for the Nautilus (for about 15 mins anyway, it was during work). I think working at Mare Island is one of the reasons I have an affinity for Submarines. That's about it |
