I think I have to agree with the grouchy people on this thread, DW could be and can be so much more. I think back to my Commodore 64 days and think what was done with 64kb ram and shake my head.

An industry follower friend of mine said "theres no money in PC games except shooters and MMORPGs". An exaggeration, yes. but has rings of truth to it. The amount of piracy is just ridiculous. I know people that have played every PC game on this green earth and never paid for ONE. Have I burned or downloaded a game? sure. BUT, I buy the games that are close to my heart. and yes, of course I bought DW......and Sub Command, AND 688i.....AND fleet command.......

I like the reference to FS2004. Im a sim nerd and heres a 'game' with no violence, shooting, bombing whatever and it has this massive following. its just crazy. the amount of 3rd party add-ons its just nuts. I can practically fly a new plane every day.

Sure DW is alright, but thats because its the only game in town. The PC game market is seriously ill, and thats mainly cause by two factors.

1. The age of game players. MOST real gamers are young kids, but everyone knows they only play consoles. PC gamers tend to be older, and therefore have real lives with school, work, kids, wives and SO....have less time to play games. Thats why, theres less of them.

2. Piracy. why do most people BUY a PC game? to get a legit cd key to play online. If a game doesnt have a big online thing going on, you'll probably just keep playing your burned copy and never 'upgrade' to a legit copy. PC gamers are older and smarter than console gamers, which is why they learn about bit-torrent, file-sharing and burning ISOs.

These reasons can usually answer most questions about PC games. Unless youre Counterstrike Source or World of Warcraft, whos buying???

back to DW. I'll just support what others have already said. Yes, there should be more platforms. Yes, there should be more content like missions, campaigns and database updates.

Here's a question for Jaime, honest answer now.

How many man hours would it take to add ONE NEW fully playable platform to the game?

give the status of staffing in SCS at this time, how long would it take for this to happen if it were decided tommorow? weeks? months?

you realise that your answer helps show us how much this is 'worth' to SCS.
