Are you in a type VII? Compare the displacements. The Type IX takes considerably longer to get under. Also 35 seconds should be the time in a crash dive. A normal dive should also take a lot longer.

I may be wrong, I'll have to really get down and time it. I've got a type VII pretty much stock except for a Hydrophone upgrade.
I like the surface speeds alright, the submerged speed is crazy slow. Really have to have a good wide approach with a lot of time if I'm stalking submerged. But all in all, I'm much happier with the overall performance of the boat than I'd thought I'd be (comparing to the US Fleet boats).
