Default TMO's MAD equipped planes finally got me....almost

TMO RSRD with Restore Killer aircraft MOD.100 realism

So had heard of TMO's pseduo MAD which allow for deeper underwater detection but have yet had it get me.

Started new career in Feb 1945 with Tench class USS Runner, assigned to Yellow Sea.After sinking a lone ship, tracked a convoy I added through the shallows on the Korean coast for 24 hours, once it turned NW finally and moved into somewhat deeper water, I decided it was time to get a couple attacks in.I was weary of a night surface attack since was loaded down with Mark 18's and their short range but it was only realistic mode of attack for a while due to the shallow waters.

I moved in from the port side of convoy which was 7 ships with 4 escorts.Closed to 3200 yards off the convoys track and fired one 3 taihosan maru freighters with two fish each. Then begin a slow turned, the fish hit, sinking two and leaving one adrift, I then rushed away at 20+ knots, escorts didnt see me due to the dark night...the half moon was not high yet.

I moved away at high speed but before long, SV radar had planes coming in, 3 of them and radar signals at 11 miles.I dove, stopping at scope depth to keep track. The planes did not detect me but their flight path took them very near me, as they closed I lowered antenna and scope and waited for them to pass over, flying so low could hear them through the hull and thought they passed(EAX sound mod is great) Suddenly about a minute later, multiple explosions shook the boat, lights went out, could hear things breaking, water and high pressure air shooting in conning tower, damage reports rolled in.

Hull damage was at 60, severe bulkhead damage to forward torpedo room, conning tower and control room.Every piece of equipment on the deck was DESTROYED excepth the twin 5 inch deck guns and 40 MM bofors forward and aft, they were shown as damaged moderately.Depth charges must have detonated right above the deck and conning tower.Conning tower equipment from TDC to sonbar and radar were all heavily damaged.

The excess flooding was soon dragging me to the bottom at 230 feet.I set her on the bottom to allow for repairs but to make matters worst, withing 10 minutes I heard pinging.Seems the flyboys alerted the convoy escorts and they were looking for me.With silent running off in calm seas and shallow waters sitting on the bottom, situation did not look great.

The escorts soon located my boat and unleashed a storm of charges but somehow after multiple runs avoided damage until one charge exploded close and sent hull damage up more, damaged fuel tank.No hope in surviving, I prepared for a last ditch battle surface and run away while diesels were undamaged.

I listened(external view off, both scopes smashed) until figured was in best position to surface and blew ballast, after a struggle to surface, we made it and ordered ahead flank.Automatic weapons fire soon broke out as an aux subchaser was about 800 yards away.Luckily both deck guns were damaged but still functioned okay, ordered them to fire away while blasted away with the aft 40 MM.A well placed round or two hit the depth charge rack setting off a tremendous explosion as the aux subchaser closed in attempting to ram. After the charges went off, the aux subchaser turned off a little.A couple well placed rounds from the 5 inch gun left two large gaping holes in the aux subchasers side, she was afire and stopped dead in the water.

Two type A/B CD ships were closing in there, firing away, shell splashes near me, I ordered cease fire as the muzzle flashes just helped give out our position.I manned the aft TBT and fired two Mark 27 cutie torpedos and readied the Mark 18's in tubes 9 and 10 for a down the throat shot if needed.Think it could not get any worst but wasd incorrect, two new contacts were north in my direction of retreat, it was two patrol vessels( I added these in addition to the nightly air patrols, least they worked as planned lol) I adjusted course slightly to stay away from the patrol and while the two escorts pursuing were slowly falling behind, I was not out of the woods yet.Suddenly, the planes were back, I could not dive so prepared to fight it out, somehow I got lucky, they stayed just out of radar range and also made me guess the escorts had lost me or they wouldve directed the planes in.

Finally, I pulled away and set course for Guam, far two damaged to continue patrol.I made it home finally, boat in shambles.

There is no way I was detected before diving.I put a group of 3 Bettys to spawn every 24 hours at 2200 in the 44b subhunters layer to patrol yellow sea by night, they are set to elite and equipped with 4 depth charges each. They are se tto fly at 75-85 meters and 100 knots. No doubt they detected me via "MAD" when they flew over and the minute or so in between was them moving into position to attack.Quite a harrowing patrol.
