Default [WIP] Tristar 1/35 Marder III Ausf. H

Lil' project I've just started with a Tristar 1/35 Marder III Ausf. H, thought I'd do a bit of a WIP on here Saw this beast of a kit on a stand at my local model rail exhibition this weekend and picked it up for £25, a couple of quid off the RRP. I have to say it looks about the most detailed kit I've ever seen, let alone made. The mouldings are crisp and detailed with very little flash, just a few sinkholes. The goodies you get included are what you'd normally expect to buy aftermarket, you get a good size sheet of photo etch, a full interior , and seperate track links to make up a fully articulated track. Only thing you don't get are crew, luckily modelhobbies.co.uk had a set of MiniArt German Winter Tank Crew so I ordered them last night

I'm aiming to do the variant seen in Kharkov in 1943, all German Grey with a winter whitewash, and I'm gonna make a simple snowy diorama base for it, nothing fancy.

On with a few pics:

Took me about 2 hours last night just to put the transmission together, hence this is the only bit done so far. Damn I've never seen so many tiny bits of PE!

The basis of the controls, that is a stack of 4 PE levers with 5 washers seperating them, that was complete arse to do, although actually not as difficult as I had imagined.

The completed transmission with control levers in place, just needs a few more bits on it then ready for painting

And would you believe it, the dreaded Carpet Monster hasn't taken any bits yet

Next step is to paint the interior and begin to assemble it.

TBC...
