Default GWX-D/F-single contact?!?!

During, so called inshore campaign I was on patrol near Britain coast in januar 1945... There I got single contact report on map, with precise range and course of that contact.
I found large merchant with NON EVASIVE course with speed of just 5-6 knots... She's going down, of course

First of all, is it historical possible that unescorted singe ship travel in 1945. on non evasive course with just 5-6 knots?
Very, very, very unusual!

Second, chances that they reported the exact position and course are zero!!!

According to this http://uboat.net/articles/id/51 Uboats D/F have problem: Problem was because the loop antenna had two maximum fields of reception and because of that the operator could to make mistake of 180 degrees!

Again, according to this single Uboat have not any capability to find the exact direction of contact (if the ship did not report their precise position and course). Even if they knew the direction and the boat did not report the position and course, but only reported weather report or something it's not possible to establish distance to contact and course! Am I right?

So, I wonder is it quite unrealistic thing that happens too often when playing GWX mod?! Ok, I know, theoretically maybe B-Dienst send informations, maybe shore D/F find position of contact, but in 1944. after D-Day and during inshore campaign that is little possible and it happens to often!!!
So, is there any mod which can solve this problem?
