Am I the only one who sees a parallel between Today's interest in reality shows and the Roman's interest in gladiator fights?
Both were reality shows in their times. Both fed off of some interest of the masses to see others suffer. In the Roman example, it was physical suffering In the current example, it is emotional suffering Both are a disturbing reflection on the masses.
