Default Weird glitch with onboard audio

I have an ASUS P5QL/EPU motherboard which has a built in soundboard.

The soundboard utilizes HD ADeck drivers. These are 'generic' drivers but are provided by ASUS as the defacto set of drivers. Yes I have the latest version installed. Yes I have run DXDiag and found no problems (except that it reports the card does not support hardware buffering).

The hardware appears to work just fine with all games but with one odd exception.

Railworks....

Every sound works in that game except the engine sound. Kinda sucky driving a big powerfull Diesel engine to only hear the compressor puttering away.

I plug in the USB headset and can hear the engine in them so its being processed. But I hate wearing headsets.

I installed an old SB Audigy2 soundcard and its drivers before and it would play the engine sounds. I had to recently re-install the OS and all the drivers but the missing engine sounds is still there.

I have tried setting sampling rates, hardware accelleration, enabling/disabling about every dang thing I can think of yet no engine sounds. I checked the ADeck settings and it is set correctly for your typical 2 'desktop' speakers.

I have scoured the interwebs and came up empty on the topic except for some of my own posts here and there with no resolutions.

Weird huh?

ps; I see that Railworks is due to be upgraded tommorow. I'll just wait and see if that doesent fix it.
