Default An Extraordinary Patrol

It's December 7, 1941 and I've been at sea for about 2 weeks. I was sent to some lonely grid off the west coast of Africa where there's no traffic to speak of (I saw one small merchant on the entire visit). Finished there, I steamed up to Gibralter (my favorite fishing hole) and nailed a King George with two torpedoes to the stern.

Next, I paid a visit to Area 51, (I mean AM51) where as usual, the weather is lousy. On the way, I sunk three C3's with my deck gun off the coast of Spain. The ocean was like glass. I found one by itself and then two steaming together. It was quite a shootout as they all engaged me but I kept moving at maximum range and never took a hit.

Next, I ran into a convoy and sank a Troop Transport and a couple T3's, then a few days later, cleaned out another convoy of its 3 T2's. AM51 proved to be boring, so I went up North to AM36 hoping to find another Task Force. I only stayed a couple days, then headed South again. I steamed all the way back to Spain where I am now. So guess what?

I got a radio message of a Task Force...they're dead aft of my position. I checked it out and there are 3 BB's (two Nelson's and a Revenge). I can't believe it, I was on my way back to Gibraltar to maybe find a Task Force and here they are running up my stern. Only problem is...15 m/s, heavy rain and fog. At least it's daylight.

I'm planning two keel shots from the stern at the lead BB (I'll be firing blind but right on the beam at zero angle of attack so they should hit), then let the other two pass me and hit them in the stern with my bow tubes. The challenge will be getting within less then 400 meters so I can calibrate the speed. I have enough torpedoes to finish them off later if necessary...the trick is to at least cripple them so I can outrun later.

Then, I'll go on to Gibraltar and see if I can find some more! As it stands, I have a chance to sink 4 BB's on this patrol, maybe more.
