Give her time matey....the SH3 engine is showing her age now and actually loads everything at the initial boot sequence unlike the newer SHIV engine which loads bite size chunks depending on date chosen.
The better your system specs the quicker the load times. Please give feedback so others will know if you've resolved the problem or not. None of us is as clever as all of us.
