Most Atheists I know are only speaking out when some Young-Earth Creationist tries to "prove" the Earth is only 6.000-12.000 years old or that dinosaurs and men coexisted.

There is no use in challenging someone who believes in a god just because he does so. The religious people around here go to their church and pray to their god and let other religious or atheist persons in peace.
If someone is religious and finds peace in it, it's absolute fine with me - as long as he does not try to enforce his views on me or others.

If someone tries to convince children that dinosaurs and men coexisted or that homosexuals are "diseased" and have to be "cured" - his views will certainly be questioned.
Creationists in germany tried to get schools to "teach the controversy" but as this is regarded as utterly ridiculous, it will not happen. Not because of the Atheists, but because of so many Christians who are against it.

A local pastor once told me that it is a question of education if somebody is a christian or just a religious nutcase. "If he believes in God, then he's a christian. If he believes in God and that men and dinosaurs coexisted - nutcase."
