I'm using DWX3 and I'd like to know some things about how the destroyer passive sonar is modeled.
I know that the destroyer aspect is modeled, so that they cannot hear in the rear for about 45 degrees to each side of their stern. But can they hear you while depth charges are exploding? Does the noise from other ships around affect what they can hear? Can I go faster in the middle of a convoy rather than alone in the ocean or does it not matter at all? Is "silent running" a very big difference from normal running as long as your speed is say, 1 kt in both cases? Thanks |
